1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Reporter Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern the submission, creation, publication, preview, and use of news content submitted by reporters, contributors, correspondents, stringers, freelancers, or other registered or authorized users (“Reporter”) through the BP NEWS (Bulletin Paper) website (“Website”).

By registering as a Reporter, submitting any news content, uploading any material, generating or downloading a newspaper-style preview image, or otherwise using the Reporter facilities of the Website, the Reporter confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms.

If the Reporter does not agree with these Terms, they must not submit content or use the Reporter facilities of the Website.

2. Reporter Has Primary Responsibility for Submitted Content

The Reporter is solely and personally responsible for every item of content submitted through the Website, including but not limited to:

  • News reports and articles;
  • Headlines and sub-headlines;
  • Names, photographs, videos, audio, documents, and other media;
  • Statements, quotations, allegations, accusations, and claims;
  • Dates, locations, identities, statistics, and other factual information;
  • Captions and descriptions;
  • Newspaper-style preview images generated from submitted content; and
  • Any other information supplied by the Reporter.

BP NEWS does not guarantee or certify that information submitted by a Reporter is true, accurate, complete, lawful, verified, or suitable for publication.

The Reporter must independently verify the accuracy and legality of their submission before submitting it.

3. False, Misleading, Fabricated or Unverified News

The Reporter must not knowingly or recklessly submit:

  • False or fabricated news;
  • Misleading or deceptive information;
  • Rumours presented as facts;
  • Manipulated or materially misleading photographs, videos, documents, or recordings;
  • Unverified allegations presented as established facts;
  • Fake quotations or statements;
  • False information regarding any individual, organization, government authority, company, institution, or other entity;
  • Content intended to damage another person’s reputation without lawful and reasonable journalistic basis; or
  • Content that the Reporter knows, or reasonably should know, is false or materially misleading.

If any submitted content is found to be false, fabricated, misleading, defamatory, unlawful, or materially inaccurate, the Reporter may be solely responsible for the consequences arising from that submission, subject to applicable law.

BP NEWS reserves the right to remove, edit, correct, restrict, reject, suspend, or permanently disable access to any content or Reporter account where appropriate.

4. Reporter’s Own Risk and Responsibility

Every Reporter submits content at their own responsibility and risk.

The Reporter understands that publication or distribution of their content may have legal, financial, reputational, regulatory, civil, or criminal consequences under applicable law.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Reporter agrees that BP NEWS, its owners, operators, publishers, administrators, employees, technical service providers, representatives, and affiliates should not be held responsible for unlawful, false, fabricated, defamatory, infringing, misleading, or otherwise improper content independently submitted by the Reporter.

Nothing in these Terms, however, excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

5. Verification of News

Reporters are responsible for conducting appropriate verification before submitting a report.

Depending on the nature of the report, the Reporter should, where reasonably appropriate:

  • Verify information through reliable sources;
  • Check facts, dates, names, locations, and figures;
  • Obtain supporting documents where necessary;
  • Distinguish allegations from established facts;
  • Clearly identify the source of significant claims where appropriate;
  • Seek comments or responses from relevant persons or organizations where journalistic standards require it; and
  • Avoid publishing information that is merely based on rumours or unverified social-media posts.

The Reporter must not assume that submission through the BP NEWS Website constitutes verification or editorial approval.

6. Editorial Review Does Not Transfer Responsibility

BP NEWS may review submitted content before or after publication. However, editorial review, technical processing, automated processing, publication, or failure to detect an error does not automatically mean that BP NEWS has independently verified every fact contained in the submission.

The Reporter remains responsible for the accuracy and legality of information that they provide, subject to rights and liabilities imposed on BP NEWS by applicable law.

7. Newspaper-Style Preview Image

The Website may automatically generate a newspaper-style image, bulletin image, article card, or other visual representation (“Preview Image”) from content submitted by the Reporter.

The Reporter acknowledges that:

  1. The Preview Image may reproduce the Reporter’s submitted headline, text, photograph, name, designation, date, or other information.
  2. The Preview Image is generated from information supplied through the Website.
  3. The existence of a Preview Image does not constitute independent verification of the information displayed in it.
  4. The Reporter must review the Preview Image before downloading, sharing, printing, publishing, or distributing it.
  5. The Reporter is responsible for identifying and reporting any material error in the Preview Image.
  6. The Reporter must not intentionally modify or manipulate the Preview Image in a manner that creates a false impression of official BP NEWS publication or endorsement.

8. Misuse of Newspaper-Style Images

The Reporter must not use any BP NEWS Preview Image, logo, branding, template, publication design, or other Website-generated material for:

  • Fraudulent purposes;
  • Forgery;
  • Impersonating a government authority, police authority, court, company, institution, or another person;
  • Creating fake official notices;
  • Blackmail, extortion, threats, harassment, or intimidation;
  • Defamation or malicious reputation attacks;
  • Deceptive financial, commercial, political, or promotional activity;
  • Creating false evidence or misleading documentation;
  • Cheating, scams, or fraudulent transactions;
  • Any unlawful activity; or
  • Any purpose prohibited by applicable law.

Any misuse of a Preview Image or other Website-generated material is undertaken at the user’s own risk and responsibility.

BP NEWS does not authorize any person to use its branding or generated materials for illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, or unauthorized purposes.

9. No Guarantee of Publication

Submission of content does not guarantee publication.

BP NEWS may, at its sole editorial and operational discretion, accept, reject, modify, delay, remove, archive, restrict, or discontinue publication of any submission, subject to applicable law.

BP NEWS may also remove content after publication if it receives a complaint, correction request, legal notice, court order, government direction, rights complaint, or other information indicating that the content may be inaccurate, unlawful, infringing, or otherwise problematic.

10. Corrections and Retractions

If a Reporter discovers that information submitted by them contains a significant factual error, they should promptly notify BP NEWS at:

contact@bpnews.in

The Reporter should provide sufficient information to identify the relevant article and explain the suspected error.

BP NEWS may publish a correction, clarification, update, retraction, or removal where it considers appropriate or where required by applicable law.

11. Defamation and Reputation

The Reporter must exercise particular care when reporting allegations involving individuals or organizations.

The Reporter must not knowingly submit defamatory, malicious, fabricated, or recklessly misleading material.

Where a report concerns allegations, accusations, criminal proceedings, disputes, investigations, or other potentially reputation-sensitive matters, the Reporter should accurately describe the status of the matter and avoid presenting an allegation as an established fact unless appropriately supported.

The Reporter acknowledges that publication of defamatory or unlawful content may expose the responsible person to legal consequences under applicable law.

12. Privacy and Personal Information

The Reporter must not unlawfully collect, upload, publish, distribute, or disclose personal information belonging to another person.

The Reporter must take reasonable care when submitting:

  • Phone numbers;
  • Residential addresses;
  • Identification documents;
  • Financial information;
  • Passwords or account information;
  • Private correspondence;
  • Medical or sensitive personal information;
  • Photographs of private individuals; or
  • Other personal or confidential information.

The Reporter is responsible for ensuring that any collection and submission of personal information is lawful and has an appropriate journalistic or legal basis.

13. Copyright and Intellectual Property

The Reporter represents and warrants that they have the necessary rights, permissions, licenses, or lawful basis to submit any article, photograph, video, audio, document, graphic, or other material uploaded to the Website.

The Reporter must not submit material copied from another publication, website, journalist, photographer, creator, or organization without appropriate permission or lawful authorization.

The Reporter must not knowingly infringe another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other intellectual-property rights.

14. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Reporter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless BP NEWS, Bulletin Paper, its owners, publishers, directors, officers, employees, representatives, contractors, service providers, affiliates, and administrators from claims, demands, proceedings, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and reasonable legal expenses arising from or relating to:

  • Content submitted by the Reporter;
  • False, fabricated, misleading, or defamatory information submitted by the Reporter;
  • Alleged infringement of copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
  • Unauthorized use of photographs, videos, documents, or other materials;
  • Misuse of BP NEWS Preview Images or branding;
  • Illegal use of the Website or its services;
  • Violation of these Terms; or
  • Any unlawful act or omission by the Reporter.

This indemnity applies to the extent permitted by applicable law and does not remove any rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BP NEWS shall not be responsible for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary losses arising from content independently submitted, uploaded, generated, downloaded, modified, shared, or distributed by a Reporter.

BP NEWS is not responsible for the Reporter’s independent acts, statements, representations, communications, or use of Website-generated materials.

Nothing in these Terms shall be interpreted as excluding liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

16. Third-Party Complaints and Legal Notices

If BP NEWS receives a complaint, legal notice, court order, governmental direction, rights-infringement claim, or other credible report concerning submitted content, BP NEWS may take appropriate action, including:

  • Temporarily restricting access;
  • Removing or disabling content;
  • Requesting clarification or supporting information;
  • Publishing a correction;
  • Suspending the Reporter account;
  • Permanently terminating the Reporter account; or
  • Taking any other action permitted or required by applicable law.

The Reporter agrees to cooperate reasonably with legitimate requests concerning their submitted content.

17. Reporter Account Security

The Reporter is responsible for protecting their account credentials and must not allow another person to use their account for submitting content.

If the Reporter believes their account has been compromised or misused, they should immediately contact BP NEWS at:

contact@bpnews.in

Where reasonably possible, the Reporter should maintain the confidentiality of their login credentials.

18. Prohibited Content

The Reporter must not submit content that is unlawful or that promotes or facilitates unlawful conduct, including content involving:

  • Fraud or scams;
  • Forgery;
  • Impersonation;
  • Threats or harassment;
  • Incitement to violence;
  • Deliberate misinformation;
  • Child sexual abuse material;
  • Terrorist or extremist recruitment or support;
  • Unauthorized disclosure of confidential information;
  • Copyright infringement;
  • Identity theft;
  • Financial deception;
  • Malicious manipulation of evidence; or
  • Any other activity prohibited by applicable law.

BP NEWS may take immediate action against accounts or content that appear to violate these requirements.

19. Artificial Intelligence, Edited and Generated Material

If a Reporter uses artificial intelligence, editing software, automated tools, or other technology to create or modify news content, photographs, audio, video, documents, or other material, the Reporter remains responsible for the resulting submission.

The Reporter must not knowingly present AI-generated, digitally altered, manipulated, or synthetic material as genuine factual evidence when doing so would mislead readers.

Where disclosure is required by applicable law or appropriate journalistic standards, the Reporter should clearly identify materially altered or synthetic content.

20. No Unauthorized Representation

Unless expressly authorized by BP NEWS, a Reporter must not represent themselves as:

  • The owner of BP NEWS;
  • An authorized spokesperson of BP NEWS;
  • A director, legal representative, or official officer of BP NEWS;
  • A government-authorized representative;
  • A police or law-enforcement official; or
  • Any other person or authority that they are not legally authorized to represent.

Being registered as a Reporter does not automatically grant authority to make contractual, legal, financial, or official representations on behalf of BP NEWS.

21. Use of BP NEWS Name and Branding

The BP NEWS name, logo, website design, newspaper-style layout, trademarks, branding elements, and other proprietary materials may not be copied, altered, reproduced, or used for unauthorized purposes.

Reporter status does not give the Reporter ownership of BP NEWS intellectual property.

22. Website Availability

BP NEWS does not guarantee that the Website, Reporter dashboard, content-submission system, Preview Image generator, or other Website functions will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

The Website may be modified, suspended, upgraded, discontinued, or temporarily unavailable for maintenance, technical issues, security reasons, or other operational reasons.

23. Automated Preview and Technical Errors

The Reporter acknowledges that automatically generated newspaper-style Preview Images may occasionally contain formatting errors, technical errors, missing information, incorrect positioning, or other system-generated defects.

The Reporter must review the Preview Image before distributing it.

BP NEWS may correct or modify technical functionality at any time.

24. Record Keeping and Cooperation

BP NEWS may maintain records relating to submissions, including technical information, account information, timestamps, submission details, and other information as permitted by applicable law.

Where legally required, BP NEWS may preserve, disclose, or provide relevant information to competent authorities or pursuant to valid legal process.

25. Suspension and Termination

BP NEWS may suspend or terminate a Reporter’s access to the Website where the Reporter:

  • Violates these Terms;
  • Repeatedly submits inaccurate or problematic content;
  • Submits unlawful or prohibited material;
  • Misuses BP NEWS branding or Preview Images;
  • Attempts to deceive or manipulate the Website;
  • Receives credible complaints concerning serious misconduct; or
  • Creates a material legal, security, reputational, or operational risk.

Termination does not automatically remove obligations or liabilities that arose before termination.

26. Changes to These Terms

BP NEWS may update these Terms from time to time.

Updated Terms may be published on the Website. Continued use of the Reporter facilities after an updated version becomes effective may constitute acceptance of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Reporters should periodically review the Terms.

27. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the applicable laws of India.

Subject to applicable law and any mandatory jurisdiction requirements, disputes relating to these Terms or the Reporter’s use of the Website shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts having jurisdiction over the location of BP NEWS’s registered/principal office.

Important: BP NEWS should insert its actual registered/principal office location before publishing this clause.

28. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a competent authority, that provision shall be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

29. Entire Agreement

These Reporter Terms & Conditions, together with any applicable Website policies, privacy policy, editorial policy, and other terms displayed by BP NEWS, constitute the applicable agreement governing the Reporter’s use of the Reporter facilities, subject to applicable law.

30. No Waiver

Failure by BP NEWS to immediately enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of its right to enforce that provision later.
